I tend to do random acts of expression (as I call them), that’s just something I’ve done ever since I was about 15 and the creative bug started bugging me. One of the most memorable ones (according to me) was the embedded apple. At the time (around fifth semester in college) I was obsessed with apples (NOT because of Steve Jobs’s products), I just grew very interested in the meaning of apples in culture, like the christian meaning (in the story of Adam and Eve), all that stuff about temptation and knowledge, I just liked thinking and reading about it. At the same time I was starting to understand what embedded systems were, and was also becoming obsessed by them. Naturally I had to do something about it, so one day I grabbed an apple and started sticking random components into it until I felt satisfied it really looked like something out of a vintage-retro-scifi-futuristic movie-thing…but edible, of course. I then proceeded to take some pictures, I thought adding a CD to the background and focusing the snapshot to the CD light reflection instead of the apple would add some nice effect…it didn’t, but with my limited visual arts capabilities this was the best picture from the series…anybody have an idea of what my embedded apple could be good for?
